Community-Led Development
“I started my organization with a focus on three things: taking care of our environment, starting vegetable gardens, and economic empowerment for women. Today we are impacting 3,870 women and have planted 175,431 trees. I feel that I am fulfilling Orkeeswa’s mission because I know that the problem solvers in our communities are us. My ideal village is one in which a majority of women stand on their own and do what they are capable of.”

Youth-driven
Impact
“Before joining WAEV, I used to run a business, but due to a lack of business knowledge and capital, my business kept failing and I eventually stopped altogether.
However, after joining WAEV, I gained business knoweldge and capital, which helped me restart my journey. Today, I run a small grocery shop, a hair salon, a microfinance center, and a tailoring shop.”
