Note from the Filmmakers
“Working on Nabolo Milangoni was a special experience for me. The inspiration behind the film came from the idea of creating a place where newcomers can feel comfortable and welcomed, like they are at home. We wanted to show that no matter how difficult things may seem at first, anything is possible when people are kind and support one another.
Collaborating with the students from Groton School on this film was a great experience. I learned how to work with different people, communicate better, and be more open to new ideas. Their support and teamwork helped us create something meaningful.
Directing Nabolo Milangoni gave me confidence and showed me that filmmaking is something I can truly pursue. It helped me realize that I have the ability to tell stories and bring ideas to life. This experience strengthened my dream of becoming a filmmaker in the future and reminded me that with dedication, teamwork, and courage, anything is possible.”
– Namayani, Co-Director
“Being part of Nabolo Milangoni changed the way I see myself. Before joining the film, I was very shy and lacked confidence. When I was selected during the casting process, I never expected that I would be acting in front of cameras and other people. I felt nervous and sometimes wanted to step back because I was not comfortable being seen by others.
I am thankful to Director Namayani for helping me feel comfortable throughout the process. She supported me and helped me stay connected to my character, Naurei, which made it easier for me to act and feel more confident in front of the camera.
As we worked on the film, I began to understand the story more deeply and realized that it related to my own life. The journey of the character helped me see things from a different perspective and opened my eyes to new possibilities.
Before Nabolo Milangoni, I often stayed quiet because of my shyness. Through acting and being part of the production, I learned that I am capable of doing things I never thought I could do. It gave me the courage to try new things and believe in myself. Now, I see myself as someone who can step outside of my comfort zone and take opportunities, even when they feel challenging.”
